In a remarkable gesture of encouragement and recognition for grassroots media advocacy in the Niger Delta, respected Ijaw leader Ambassador Jude Ebitimi Ukori JP (Justice of the Peace) has expressed strong support for the work of GlobalEgberiTV, applauding the commitment and dedication of its Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Odimientimi Agbedeyi, to the promotion of the Ijaw nation.

The appreciation came during a private telephone conversation between Ambassador Ukori JP and Dr. Agbedeyi, during which the respected community leader commended the media platform for its consistent efforts in projecting the voice, concerns, and aspirations of the Ijaw people.

PROFILE OF AMBASSADOR JUDE UKORI JP

Ambassador Jude Ebitimi Ukori JP is widely recognized as a prominent Niger Delta activist, community leader, and advocate for resource justice and regional development.

He previously served as Executive Chairman of the Egbema and Gbaramatu Communities Development Foundation (EGCDF), a regional development organization established under the Global Memorandum of Understanding (GMoU) framework between oil-producing communities and the NNPC/Chevron Joint Venture to drive sustainable development projects in host communities.

Under his leadership, several community infrastructure projects were executed across Egbema and Gbaramatu kingdoms in Delta State. These included roads, water projects, jetty renovations, hospital upgrades, and housing developments aimed at improving the living standards of oil-producing communities.

Ambassador Ukori is also known as a human rights advocate and a vocal voice on issues affecting the Niger Delta, frequently speaking on matters such as resource control, restructuring, and the need for greater inclusion of host communities in the management of natural resources.

Over the years, he has played key roles in regional leadership engagements involving community leaders, government officials, and oil companies, particularly on matters relating to oilfield operations, peacebuilding, and community development within the Niger Delta region.

A respected son of Egbema Kingdom in Warri North Local Government Area of Delta State, Ambassador Ukori has earned recognition for his commitment to peacebuilding, philanthropy, and grassroots empowerment within Ijaw communities.

RECOGNITION OF ACADEMIC AND MEDIA LEADERSHIP

During the conversation, Ambassador Ukori JP particularly acknowledged the dedication of Dr. Agbedeyi, noting that it is uncommon for someone with demanding academic responsibilities to still devote time and resources to community media advocacy.

Dr. Odimientimi Agbedeyi currently serves as a Principal Lecturer and the Dean of the School of Applied Sciences at the Delta State Polytechnic Ogwashi-Uku in Delta State.

Despite the demands of academic leadership and administrative duties within the institution, he has continued to sustain the activities of GlobalEgberiTV as a platform dedicated to the promotion of the Ijaw nation and the broader Niger Delta.

Expressing admiration for this level of commitment, Ambassador Ukori JP remarked:

“I am surprised that despite your busy schedule as a lecturer, you still have time to be doing this great work for the Ijaw nation.”

He commended the consistency of GlobalEgberiTV in documenting developments within the Niger Delta and highlighting issues affecting the Ijaw people both locally and nationally.

A GESTURE OF ENCOURAGEMENT

As a mark of appreciation and encouragement, Ambassador Jude Ukori JP offered his support to the work of GlobalEgberiTV, describing the gesture as a way of encouraging the platform to continue its advocacy and information dissemination efforts for the benefit of the Ijaw nation.

Observers say such support reflects the growing recognition of independent grassroots media platforms that amplify the voices of communities and contribute to constructive public discourse within the Niger Delta region.

Ambassador Ukori JP has long been recognized among stakeholders in the region as a supporter of initiatives aimed at strengthening community development, promoting unity among Ijaw people, and encouraging platforms that advance the interests of the region.

DR AGBEDEYI EXPRESSES GRATITUDE

Responding to the gesture, Dr. Odimientimi Agbedeyi, CEO of GlobalEgberiTV, expressed heartfelt appreciation to Ambassador Jude Ukori JP for the support and words of encouragement.

Dr. Agbedeyi described the gesture as a strong moral boost that reinforces the importance of independent media advocacy for the Ijaw nation.

“I sincerely thank Ambassador Jude Ukori JP for this kind gesture and encouragement. His support serves as motivation for us to continue projecting the voice of the Ijaw nation and advocating for unity and development within the Niger Delta,” he said.

STRENGTHENING THE VOICE OF THE NIGER DELTA

GlobalEgberiTV has gradually emerged as a grassroots media platform focused on reporting and documenting issues affecting the Niger Delta. These include community development initiatives, environmental concerns, political developments, and the preservation of cultural heritage within the region.

Stakeholders believe that encouragement from respected leaders such as Ambassador Jude Ukori JP underscores the importance of indigenous media platforms in shaping narratives and ensuring that the voices of local communities are heard.

As the Niger Delta continues to navigate complex developmental and political challenges, observers say collaboration between community leaders and independent media platforms will remain crucial in promoting unity, transparency, and sustainable development within the region.
