In yet another troubling reminder of Nigeria’s deepening insecurity crisis, kidnappers have released a disturbing video showing a staff member of Vine Crest College, Ogun State, pleading for his life as armed men hold him captive and demand a ransom of ₦100 million.

Contrary to early assumptions circulating online, the victim was not abducted within the school premises.
He was kidnapped on his way to Abuja, according to verified information obtained by Global Egberi Media International.

A Cry for Help Under Duress

The viral video, which has been widely shared across social media platforms, shows the terrified school employee seated on the ground while two masked kidnappers stand behind him, each holding AK-style rifles pointed in his direction.
The victim, visibly shaken, pleads with the government, his employers, and Nigerians of goodwill to come to his rescue.

His captors can be heard issuing threats and insisting on the immediate payment of ₦100 million if he must be released alive.

Community Shock and Rising Anxiety

The incident has generated deep concern among parents, residents, and educational stakeholders, especially considering the increasing frequency of kidnappings targeting workers, travelers, and community members across the country.

Schools, though not involved in the abduction in this case, have also expressed fears over the rising vulnerability of staff and students during travel.

A parent who spoke anonymously said:

“This is heartbreaking. Even when someone is not attacked on school grounds, they are still unsafe. We are calling on security agencies to treat this case with urgency.”

Security Sources Confirm Abduction Occurred in Transit

Reliable sources close to security operations confirmed that the victim was abducted during a journey to Abuja and that the kidnappers trailed and intercepted the vehicle he was traveling in.

This, they say, reflects the growing sophistication of criminal groups who now target travelers along less-monitored routes.

Government, School, and Security Agencies Yet to Issue Comprehensive Statement

As at the time of filing this report, security agencies are yet to provide an official update on rescue operations.
Vine Crest College is also expected to release a more detailed statement to clarify the situation and calm the anxiety among parents and the public.

A Nation in Urgent Need of Security Overhaul

This kidnapping adds to the long list of cases that continue to raise concerns about the safety of Nigerians on the road, at home, and at work.
It also highlights the ongoing debate about the need for stronger intelligence gathering, better-equipped local security structures, and more robust policing reforms.

Global Egberi Media International will continue monitoring the situation closely and provide updates as they unfold.
