Egbema Guest House Ofunama Officially Opens — A Call for Sons and Daughters to Come Home

The historic town of Ofunama, capital of the Egbema Kingdom in Ovia South West Local Government Area of Edo State, is experiencing a new dawn of development with the official opening of the Egbema Guest House Ofunama.

The newly launched guest house, proudly bearing the inscription “In God We Trust,” now stands as the second hospitality facility in Ofunama, with two more guest houses currently under construction — a clear signal that the community is gradually emerging as a growing destination for hospitality, culture, and local enterprise.

This significant achievement underscores the renewed determination among the people of Ofunama to invest in their homeland and promote self-driven development.

Speaking on the development, the National Chairman of Ofunama Federated Communities, Comrade Engr. Victor Warefa, described the new guest house as “a shining example of community-led progress and self-belief.”

“What we see here today is not just a building, but a statement of vision,” he said. “It shows that Ofunama is taking responsibility for its growth. When our people begin to build back home, it is a sign that hope is alive. I encourage all sons and daughters of Ofunama and the entire Egbema Kingdom to return home this festive season and be part of this transformation.”

On his part, the Chairman of Ofunama Federated Communities, His Social Highness Gen. Appearance Zebei Agagha, commended the initiative and described it as a bold step toward economic empowerment and community upliftment.

“This is the kind of development we have long prayed for,” he remarked. “A place where visitors can feel at home and our people can proudly point to as a symbol of growth. With two more guest houses on the way, Ofunama is ready to welcome the world during the Ofunama Day Celebration.”

The development comes ahead of the highly anticipated Ofunama Day Celebration, scheduled for 3rd to 8th January 2026, which promises to bring together indigenes, friends, and well-wishers from far and near.

Dr. Odimientimi Agbedeyi, a prominent son of Ofunama, expressed joy over the ongoing transformation in his hometown. He encouraged more indigenes to invest in similar community projects that will strengthen education, tourism, and local infrastructure.

“Ofunama is rising again,” Dr. Agbedeyi noted. “This is the time to unite, invest, and give back to our roots. The guest house project is a sign of good things to come. I encourage everyone to return home this January — to witness progress and to be part of history in motion.”
