The story of Dr. Timi Oriaku, the eldest child and daughter of Mr. Effort Ojujoh, stands as a living testimony to the power of education, discipline, and early spiritual foundation. I remember vividly when we both gained admission into Delta State University (DELSU) in 1997 through the Pre-Degree Programme. Timi was a bright and determined young woman, driven by faith and the passion to make her family proud. She studied Biochemistry, while I (Tam Ariaye) pursued Industrial Mathematics. We were both housed by the late Dr. Godwin Shoki, of blessed memory — a man whose generosity and mentorship left lasting impressions on our academic journey.
Not long after, Timi moved into the School Girls’ Hostel (Council Hall), while I remained in the flat until graduation. Her focus and determination were unmatched. She wasn’t just a brilliant student; she was disciplined, spiritually grounded, and carried herself with quiet confidence that commanded respect.
After her undergraduate studies, Timi’s academic journey soared higher. She gained admission into the University of Ibadan for her Master’s degree in Biochemistry, where she graduated top of her class, outperforming several home-trained scholars from UI itself. Her brilliance and work ethic spoke volumes.
Driven by a relentless quest for knowledge and excellence, Dr. Timi pursued another Master’s degree and later a Ph.D. in the United Kingdom, which she remarkably completed in her early 30s — a rare feat by any standard. Her academic achievements not only brought pride to her family but also validated the importance of investing in the education of the girl child.
Today, Dr. Timi Oriaku is not just a scholar but an internationally recognized figure. Her contributions to science and education have earned her prestigious recognitions, including a recent international award, which was proudly featured on Global Egberi Media International. The award celebrates her commitment to academic excellence, mentorship, and her role in inspiring young African women in STEM fields.
Beyond her professional accolades, Dr. Timi is a devoted wife and mother of three lovely children. Together with her family, she worships at the Deeper Life Bible Church, maintaining the same faith and humility that defined her youth.
