PEOPLE OF ISUKU COMMUNITY IN YEWA NORTH LGA CRY OUT FOR POTABLE WATER, CALL ON VERYDARKMAN FOR URGENT INTERVENTION

A heartbreaking scene has emerged from Isuku Community in Yewa North Local Government Area of Ogun State, where residents—men, women, and children—were seen gathered beside a muddy pool of stagnant water, crying out for help in a desperate appeal for potable water.

A short video posted on social media by LeadersNG captured the community’s harsh reality:

villagers standing beside a murky pond which currently serves as their only source of water for drinking, cooking, bathing, and other daily needs. The visuals showed an environment burdened by neglect, with children holding containers that portray the depth of their suffering.

In the video, community members passionately appealed to social justice advocate and internet personality VeryDarkMan, whose humanitarian interventions in neglected communities across Nigeria have become widely recognized. They pleaded that he draws attention to their plight and comes to their rescue by providing them with a borehole or any sustainable source of clean water.

According to residents, Isuku Community has endured years of abandonment, with no government presence, no access to clean water, and no infrastructure to support proper living conditions. The muddy pool seen in the video is said to be the same water source shared by both humans and animals—an unhealthy situation that raises serious concerns about waterborne diseases.

Speaking emotionally, one of the community elders lamented:

“We are suffering. Our children drink from this dirty water. We have nowhere else to go. We are begging VeryDarkMan to help us. Government has forgotten us.”

This public outcry highlights the broader challenge faced by rural communities across the country, many of which lack access to basic amenities despite promises from successive administrations.

Human rights groups, NGOs, and well-meaning Nigerians are now joining their call, urging the Ogun State Government and the Ministry of Water Resources to treat the case of Isuku Community as a humanitarian emergency.
