HRH Hon. Henry Binidodogha Condemns False Allegations Against NDDC Boss, Describes Them as Political Distractions

His Royal Highness, Hon. Henry Binidodogha, the Ovuru I of Ofunama Land, has strongly condemned the recent media allegations linking Dr. Samuel Ogbuku, Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), to an alleged coup plot against President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

The revered monarch described the reports as baseless, malicious, and politically motivated distractions aimed at diverting attention from the ongoing transformation efforts within the Commission and the Niger Delta region at large.

In a statement issued from Ofunama, HRH Binidodogha expressed deep concern over what he called “the growing weaponization of falsehood to discredit public officers working tirelessly for national and regional progress.”

“These allegations are nothing but a deliberate attempt to sow discord, tarnish reputations, and derail the renewed momentum of development in the Niger Delta. Dr. Ogbuku has shown visionary leadership, transparency, and a commitment to rebuilding confidence between the Commission and the people. It is unfortunate that such baseless stories are being circulated to cause distractions,” the monarch stated.

He praised the NDDC for its swift and clear response to the false publications, noting that the Commission’s management had already denied any involvement in the alleged coup plot and demanded public retractions and apologies from media houses responsible for the reports.

“The truth remains that Dr. Ogbuku was never arrested, invited, or interrogated by any security agency concerning such allegations. Those behind this misinformation should be called to order, as such reckless journalism threatens not just individuals, but the peace and unity of our nation,” HRH Binidodogha emphasized.

The traditional ruler further urged Niger Deltans to stand united and resist divisive tactics, reminding the public that the region’s progress depends on cooperation, not confusion.

“Instead of spreading falsehood, let us focus on empowering our youths, building infrastructure, and supporting government initiatives that foster growth. The NDDC has taken bold steps in recent years — from community projects to scholarships and empowerment programmes — and these efforts must not be sabotaged by politically motivated distractions,” he added.

HRH Binidodogha also commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his support of developmental institutions in the Niger Delta and called on leaders across all levels to protect the integrity of such institutions from malicious attacks.

“Our collective goal should be to build, not to destroy. The Niger Delta has suffered too long from internal sabotage and external misinformation. It’s time to rise above politics and work for peace, unity, and sustainable development,” he concluded.
