The respected monarch of Ofunama Land in Edo State, His Royal Highness Henry Binidodogha (Egbema I), has condemned the recent protest against the Administrator of the Presidential Amnesty Programme (PAP), Dr. Dennis Brutu Otuaro, describing it as unnecessary and counterproductive to the peace-building process currently being consolidated in the Niger Delta region.

Speaking through his media office, HRH Binidodogha reaffirmed his unwavering support for the current leadership of the Amnesty Programme, commending Dr. Otuaro’s ongoing efforts to bring reform, transparency, and inclusiveness into the system. He noted that the Programme, which was designed to stabilize the region after years of unrest, must not be politicized or derailed by internal grievances.

“Peace cannot thrive where division and suspicion replace dialogue,” HRH Binidodogha emphasized. “What we need is partnership and understanding — not protest that divides us. Dr. Otuaro deserves time and support to continue the reforms that will benefit our youths and communities.”

The royal father, who has been at the forefront of promoting peace and sustainable development across Edo’s coastal and riverine communities, urged all stakeholders to act with caution and maturity in addressing any concerns related to the Amnesty Office.

He also called on the Federal Government and relevant security agencies to sustain their peace efforts across the Niger Delta, stressing that lasting stability depends on collective responsibility and truth-based engagement rather than emotional reactions.

Observers have praised Dr. Otuaro’s tenure so far, noting his push for scholarship disbursement, skill acquisition programs, and reintegration of ex-agitators into productive ventures. His approach has been described as a balance of firmness, fairness, and reform-oriented leadership — qualities that resonate with HRH Binidodogha’s call for steady progress and accountability.

The monarch concluded by reiterating his call for unity among Niger Delta leaders, youths, and community stakeholders, saying that development can only thrive in an atmosphere of peace and mutual trust.

“Our future lies not in conflict but in cooperation. We must protect the legacy of peace and ensure that our children inherit stability, not strife,” he said.

Editorial Note

The intervention of HRH Henry Binidodogha of Ofunama Land comes at a critical time when the Niger Delta needs constructive voices that bridge divides and promote dialogue. His statement serves as a reminder that leadership — both traditional and institutional — must continue to work together in shaping a peaceful and prosperous region.
