Opinion Report: Why the Public Should Be Wary of Daniel Ezekiel
In every society, there are individuals who dedicate their time and energy to building peace, fostering unity, and strengthening communal bonds. Sadly, there are also those who thrive in controversy, making it their mission to stir division where harmony should reign. One figure whose actions have increasingly drawn concern in this regard is Daniel Ezekiel.
Over time, Ezekiel has built a reputation for insulting individuals and fanning the flames of discord, even when no conflict originally existed. As human beings, misunderstandings are inevitable — but the mark of maturity is in seeking reconciliation, not widening the cracks. Unfortunately, Ezekiel appears to delight in exploiting small issues and magnifying them into unnecessary battles.
A recent example stands out clearly. In a widely circulated video, Daniel Ezekiel was seen warning Tompolo and others to beware of Bibopere, simply because Bibopere was singing the praises of Tompolo. This act was unnecessary, provocative, and pointed towards a habit of sowing distrust between allies and brothers. Rather than respecting the right of an individual to express admiration, Ezekiel twisted the moment into a weapon of division.
For some, such actions may appear trivial, but in the fragile social fabric of the Niger Delta and beyond, words carry heavy consequences. Leaders, influencers, and youths who should be focused on unity and development cannot afford to give room to anyone who repeatedly chooses discord over dialogue.
It must be stressed that warning the public against associating closely with Daniel Ezekiel is not about silencing dissent or shielding individuals from accountability. On the contrary, criticism is healthy for growth — but criticism that is laced with malice and calculated to cause enmity is dangerous. Every well-meaning person should therefore exercise caution in their interactions with him.
In my candid observation, Ezekiel’s style of engagement seems less about genuine advocacy and more about survival through controversy. While others are building bridges, he appears intent on burning them — often at the expense of unity, trust, and progress.
This is why my opinion remains firm: Daniel Ezekiel is not a safe partner for progress. Those who value peace, development, and brotherhood should think twice before allowing themselves to be entangled in his webs of provocation.
At a time when the Niger Delta region and Nigeria at large need solidarity more than ever, we must not entertain voices that thrive in division. Instead, let us rise above such antics and invest our energies in constructive dialogue, peaceful collaboration, and collective progress.
