OGBINBIRI DAY 2026: A Grand Celebration of Culture, Unity, and Progress

The people of Ogbinbiri Community, one of the prominent communities in Egbema Kingdom, are set to host a historic and vibrant celebration tagged “Ogbinbiri Day 2026” — a week-long cultural and social event aimed at promoting unity, culture, and development among indigenes both at home and in the diaspora.

According to the programme of events released by the Central Working Committee, the much-anticipated celebration will commence on Wednesday, 7th January 2026, and run through Sunday, 11th January 2026, featuring a blend of traditional displays, sporting activities, music, and interdenominational thanksgiving.

Day 1 – 7th January 2026

The celebration kicks off with a Unity Boat Departure to Ogbinbiri Main Town at 9:00 AM, symbolizing togetherness and community spirit. The evening will come alive with a Street Carnival at 8:00 PM, expected to draw crowds of indigenes, visitors, and well-wishers in a colorful atmosphere of music, dance, and celebration.

Day 2 – 8th January 2026

The second day will begin with a General Meeting at 10:00 AM, where community leaders, elders, and youths will deliberate on key issues relating to peace and development in Ogbinbiri.

This will be followed by a Football Match at 1:30 PM, designed to foster sportsmanship and unity among the younger generation.

The evening’s entertainment highlight will feature the thrilling Aboh Igime Dance at 8:00 PM, showcasing the community’s rich cultural heritage.

Day 3 – 9th January 2026

The third day is devoted to intellectual and recreational engagements. Activities will begin at 8:00 AM with the Egbema National Scrabble Competition alongside other sporting events.

As night falls, guests will be treated to an exciting music session by Prince Abraham Isaba, whose electrifying performance is expected to light up the town “till dawn.”

Day 4 – 10th January 2026

The fourth day, themed Cultural Day, will feature traditional displays, performances by local musicians, and cultural dances beginning at 8:00 AM.

The evening will again witness a musical fiesta from Junior King and Alfred Izon-Ebi, who will entertain guests till dawn with indigenous tunes and Afro-modern sounds that blend tradition with contemporary rhythms.

Day 5 – 11th January 2026

The grand finale on Sunday, 11th January 2026, will be marked by a Special Interdenominational Church Service starting at 9:00 AM, offering thanksgiving to God for peace, unity, and progress in Ogbinbiri.

The celebration is hosted by Hon. Benedict Miyebi (National Chairman) and coordinated by the Central Working Committee led by Chief Lawuru Promise (Chairman), Engr. Siko Eyemni (National PRO), and Comr. Prosper Taylor (National Secretary).

Ogbinbiri Day has over the years become more than just a festival — it is a rallying point for cultural revival, youth empowerment, and community development.
