The heartbeat of Egbema Kingdom, Ofunama Community, revered as the Motherland and Capital of the Egbema Kingdom, is once again aglow with preparations for its annual Ofunama Day Festival—a celebration of unity, heritage, and communal pride.
In a heartfelt address to the people, Chairman of Ofunama Community, Agagha Appearance Zebei, extended warm greetings to all illustrious sons and daughters of the land, both home and abroad, as the community gears up for yet another memorable festive season.
Message of Unity and Recognition of Leaders
The chairman began his message by recognizing and saluting the commitment of distinguished leaders and elders whose wisdom and service continue to guide the community. He specially acknowledged:

Community Spirit and Call for Support
Speaking passionately, Agagha Appearance Zebei reaffirmed the shared responsibility of all Ofunama indigenes—both in the homeland and the diaspora—to uphold the community’s rich cultural values through active participation and contribution.
“We pray for all sons and daughters of Ofunama Community to be great in every area of life wherever they are. It’s another festive year of celebration where we all come home to reunite and bring happiness within us,” he stated.
He further called on everyone to contribute financially to the upcoming festival, describing the effort as a collective act of love and community building.
“As usual, we do this collectively by contributing monies to assist the festival or Ofunama Day celebration. We encourage everyone to please do the needful. Nothing is too small or big, especially for those who reside in the community. Our brothers and sisters in the diaspora have always done their best from our past records,” the chairman emphasized.
Cultural Identity and Preparation
The Ofunama leadership also provided updates concerning this year’s festival wrapper, noting that an official announcement will soon be made. According to Zebei, the Festival Committee Chairman, Youth President, and other team members are currently finalizing arrangements to make this year’s celebration colorful and well-organized.
“The committee chairman, youth president, and others are trying their best to come up with a wrapper, so everyone should be calm,” he said.
The message concluded with a divine invocation of blessings upon the land and its people:
“God bless Ofunama and its Federated Communities in the name of the Father, Mother, and Holy Ghost. Amen, Amen, Amen.”
A Celebration Rooted in Heritage
As the motherland and capital of Egbema Kingdom, Ofunama stands as the cradle of the people’s history, culture, and identity. The Ofunama Day Festival is not merely a celebration but a reaffirmation of belonging — a time when natives reconnect with their ancestral roots, renew their commitment to development, and strengthen the bond of brotherhood.
The annual event which will take place from January 3rd to January 8th 2026 is expected to attract sons and daughters from various parts of Nigeria and beyond, all eager to share in the spirit of unity, peace, and cultural pride that defines the great Ofunama community.
