NDDC Issues Important Update on Local Postgraduate Scholarship Programme
Port Harcourt, Nigeria – October 24, 2025:
The Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) has released an important update to all shortlisted candidates under its Local Postgraduate Scholarship Programme, clarifying the conditions for payment and verification procedures.
According to the official statement, the Local Postgraduate Scholarship payment is a one-off payment designed to support successful candidates who have been duly verified through the established processes of the Commission.
The Commission further emphasized that only scholars who have completed the Computer-Based Test (CBT) and oral interview stages and who possess valid admission letters from conventional universities will be eligible for the scholarship disbursement.
Valid Admission Letters Required
The NDDC cautioned candidates who submitted admission letters from non-conventional or online institutions—including Open University, MIVA, and other distance learning platforms—to obtain valid admission letters from conventional universities before 3rd November 2025.
The Commission made it clear that the Local Scholarship is strictly a full-time, in-person programme, and therefore, online schools will not be acceptable for verification or payment.
Furthermore, admission letters without a physical address, institutional seal, or official stamp will not be recognized for scholarship processing.
Deadline and Verification Process
All valid admission letters obtained from accredited and conventional Nigerian universities must reach the Directorate of Education, Health and Social Services of the NDDC on or before 3rd November 2025.
Failure to meet this submission deadline, the Commission warned, would automatically lead to forfeiture of the scholarship offer.
Payment to all successful scholars will be made after due verification at their respective universities to confirm authenticity and compliance with program requirements.
In the words of the Commission: “NDDC... Making a Difference.”
Background
The NDDC Local Scholarship Programme is part of the Commission’s broader educational intervention aimed at building human capacity across the Niger Delta region.
It seeks to provide financial support for postgraduate studies in recognized Nigerian institutions, thereby empowering scholars to contribute meaningfully to the region’s socio-economic development.
With this latest update, the NDDC reiterates its commitment to transparency, academic integrity, and accountability in implementing its scholarship schemes.
All concerned applicants are therefore advised to act swiftly and ensure compliance with the stated requirements.
