Moro–Bagbini Family Appreciates Massive Support at LASU’s 113th Inaugural Lecture

In an emotional show of gratitude and humility, the Moro–Bagbini Family of the Pawei Royal Dynasty has expressed heartfelt appreciation to friends, colleagues, royal fathers, and members of the Ijaw Nation for their massive support and attendance at the just-concluded 113th Inaugural Lecture of Lagos State University (LASU), Ojo.

The lecture, which was held at the Buba Marwa Auditorium on LASU’s Main Campus, was titled “A Providential and Paradoxical Voyage into the Invisible World: Microorganisms as Indispensable Friends and Unavoidable Enemies.” It attracted a high-calibre audience of intellectuals, traditional rulers, clergy, students, and dignitaries from across Nigeria.

Speaking through an official message of appreciation, the Moro–Bagbini family described the event as “a divine and academic voyage made possible by collective goodwill, unity of purpose, and uncommon support from distinguished personalities within and outside the university community.”

Royal Fathers and Ijaw Leaders Honoured

Special recognition was given to His Imperial Majesty, Pere Zacchaeus Doubra Egbunu, Opukutu III, the Agadagba and Paramount Ruler of Arogbo Ibe/Kingdom, who served as the Royal Father of the Day, gracing the occasion with royal dignity and blessings.

The family also extended warm appreciation to Her Imperial Majesty, Pere-Ere I, and Apostle Hon. Barr. Success Taiwo Torhukerijo, a former member of the Ondo State House of Assembly, who acted as a point of contact for all royal fathers that honoured the invitation.

Similarly, Super Comrade Joseph Evah received heartfelt thanks for his instrumental role in mobilizing Ijaw sons and daughters from different clans and associations, providing strong financial and moral backing, as well as symbolic souvenirs that added colour to the grand academic event.

Through his efforts, several Ijaw organizations stood united in solidarity, including:

  • Ijaw National Congress (INC), Lagos Chapter

  • Ijaw Youth Council (IYC) Worldwide and Lagos Chapter

  • Ijaw Youth Development Association (IYDA)

  • Ijaw United Forum, Lagos State

  • Ijaw Abu Birikeni Forum

  • Ijaw Abu Wari, among others.

The family noted that the outpouring of love and unity from these bodies reflected the true spirit of the Ijaw Nation—resilient, supportive, and bound by cultural pride.

Acknowledging the Behind-the-Scenes Heroes

In the message, special commendation was also given to Comrade Baite Fukpene, whose exceptional commitment and organizational skill were instrumental to the planning and success of the event. He handled secretariat coordination, rehearsals, and other critical behind-the-scenes duties that contributed to the seamless flow of the inaugural lecture.

The family emphasized that many others also worked silently, praying, donating, and rendering various forms of assistance to ensure that the day would remain a landmark in LASU’s academic history.

“So many individuals did various things behind the scene to make the Inaugural Lecture a phenomenally huge success. We cannot mention all the names, but God, who sees every sacrifice, will reward each one abundantly,” the family stated.

A Divine Academic Experience

The statement went further to express deep appreciation to all who attended the lecture, noting that their presence, smiles, attention, and positive energy inspired the lecturer to deliver one of the most outstanding lectures in LASU’s history.

“The rapt attention, the nods of approval, and the encouraging expressions from the audience gave me divine courage and inspiration to deliver a lecture that transcended science—it became both intellectual and spiritual,” the message read.

The lecture was hailed as a masterpiece, combining scientific depth, linguistic elegance, and spiritual insight, reflecting how the invisible world of microorganisms parallels the mysteries of divine creation.

The Moro–Bagbini Family concluded their note of appreciation with heartfelt prayers for everyone who supported the success of the lecture in one way or another.

“May the Almighty God, who rewards in secret, bless you all openly. May He raise divine helpers for you, answer your prayers, and meet you at the very point of your needs. Thank you so very much, and may God bless you richly,” the family declared.
