The auditorium at Edwin Clark University, Kiagbodo, came alive on Thursday, 30th October 2025, as members of the Niger Delta Amnesty Programme Scholarship Students (NAPAS Worldwide) gathered to witness the official handover ceremony of their outgoing president, Comr. Ebidouwei Messiah Miyenpirigha. The occasion, which drew dignitaries from across the Niger Delta and beyond, reflected not only a change in leadership but also a celebration of service, unity, and academic empowerment.

In his opening remarks, Comr. Ebidouwei Messiah Miyenpirigha began by acknowledging the faithfulness of God Almighty for the success of the event, giving glory to the name of Jesus Christ. He extended warm courtesies to distinguished guests, including His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, His Excellency, Elder Sheriff Oborevwori, Governor of Delta State, and Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, National Security Adviser.

Also honored were Chief Dr. Dennis Brutu Otuaro, Administrator of the Presidential Amnesty Programme (PAP) and Chairman of the event; Amb. Gen. Preye Ekpebide, National Chairman of PAP Phase 3 (ably represented by Gen. Reuben Efiri); the royal father of the day, HRM Samuel Akpomiemie Fuludu, Ogiogio II, Pere of Ngbilebiri-Mein Kingdom; the chief host, Prof. Samuel Tita Wara, Vice Chancellor of Edwin Clark University; and the guest speaker, Prof. Benjamin Ogele Okaba, President of the Ijaw National Congress (represented by his secretary, Comr. Tarikerekere William).

Comr. Ebidouwei’s address reflected deep gratitude and thoughtful reflection. He described his tenure as a journey of both challenges and triumphs, characterized by the collective efforts of committed members who shared a vision of educational progress and institutional growth. Among his administration’s notable achievements was the successful distribution of learning gadgets (laptops) to final-year students — a development he described as a milestone in enhancing research and academic excellence.

He also expressed heartfelt appreciation to the Administrator of the Presidential Amnesty Programme, Chief Dr. Dennis Brutu Otuaro, for responding to the students’ requests by providing laptops and significantly increasing the number of students deployed to universities nationally and internationally in 2024 and 2025.

Acknowledging those who supported his leadership journey, Comr. Ebidouwei extended personal gratitude to Sir Edgar Biu, Technical Assistant to the PAP Administrator; Chief Gen. Aroni Oputu; Amb. Gen. Preye Ekpebide; Gen. Tam Godspower Odogu; Sir Jonathan Lokpobiri Snr; Comr. Nicholas Igarama, Chairman, IYC Western Zone; Hon. Barr. Tare Porri; and Dr. Carl M. Seiyaibo, among others. Their unwavering support, he said, played an instrumental role in ensuring that his administration ran smoothly and achieved its objectives.

Speaking with a sense of fulfillment, the outgoing president reaffirmed his confidence in the incoming executive, expressing optimism that they would build upon the foundation laid and elevate NAPAS Worldwide to even greater heights.

“Today marks not just the end of my tenure but the beginning of a new chapter in our collective journey. I am confident that the next executive team will continue to guide, protect, and advance the welfare of PAP scholarship students worldwide,” he stated.

He concluded by thanking all members of the association for the privilege to serve, describing the experience as both a lesson and a blessing.

“It has been an honour leading such a strategic association, orchestrated primarily for the welfare of PAP scholarship students and the protection of the programme at every point in time,” he said.

The event ended with applause and commendations from invited dignitaries, marking the end of a memorable era of purposeful leadership and the beginning of renewed hope for the NAPAS Worldwide community.
