In what appears to be another major victory in the ongoing war against kidnapping and organized crime in Delta State, security operatives have successfully rescued a kidnapped victim and recovered a whopping ₦7.5 million ransom from a notorious kidnapping gang in Ibusa, Oshimili North Local Government Area of the state.

According to credible reports, the victim, identified as Mr. Christopher Owah, was abducted in the late hours of Thursday, October 23, 2025, right in front of his residence at Akwualusi, near St. Thomas College, Ibusa. Eyewitnesses said the attackers, armed with sophisticated weapons, ambushed him shortly after he returned home, forcing him into a waiting vehicle before speeding off into the night.

The abduction sent shockwaves through the community, prompting immediate action from both local vigilante groups and state security operatives. The kidnappers quickly established contact with the victim’s family, demanding a huge ransom and threatening to end his life if their demands were not met.

Faced with fear and uncertainty, the family complied and reportedly delivered ₦7.5 million to the abductors. But unknown to the criminals, their every move was being tracked through the advanced Tech System Air Surveillance, operated by a combined team of 63 Brigade, Asaba, and Nigeria Forward Security Services (NFSS) operatives.

Rescue Operation and Gun Battle

Following intelligence tracking, the kidnappers’ hideout was discovered in the thick bushes on the outskirts of Ibusa. A fierce gun battle ensued between the joint security team and the criminals. Though the fight was intense, the superior firepower and tactical precision of the security agents prevailed.

By the end of the operation, the victim was rescued alive and the full ₦7.5 million ransom was recovered. Some suspects were reportedly arrested at the scene, while others fled with gunshot injuries.

Mr. Owah was immediately taken to a nearby hospital where he is receiving medical attention and undergoing trauma counseling.

The rescue operation was coordinated under the Safe City Volunteer Foundation, led by renowned activist and security reform advocate Harrison Gwamnishu. In an official statement, Gwamnishu expressed gratitude to Governor Sheriff Oborevwori for his unrelenting support to security initiatives and his administration’s firm commitment to maintaining peace and stability across the state.
