Warri: NYCN Delta Sues for Peace and Tolerance
The National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Delta State Chapter, has called for calm and tolerance following the violent clash that erupted yesterday in Warri South Local Government Area, Delta State, which sadly claimed a life and left several persons injured.
In a heartfelt reaction to the ugly development, the State Chairman of NYCN, Comrade Sagboje Odiri Milton, CLN, described the incident as “tragic, regrettable, and a setback to peaceful coexistence in our communities.”
According to Comrade Sagboje, the sad occurrence is a wake-up call for youths, stakeholders, and government agencies to work together to safeguard peace across the state.
“I was deeply shocked when I received news of this ugly incident. It is a sad day for our people, and my heart goes out to the family of the deceased and all those affected. We must understand that without peace, no meaningful development can come. We should be our brothers’ keeper because peace is priceless.”
He went further to stress that the future of Delta State depends on the ability of its youths to live together in unity, shun violence, and embrace reconciliation. The NYCN leader urged youths not to allow anger and hatred to becloud their judgment but rather choose dialogue as the only viable path to resolving disputes.
Comrade Sagboje also called on traditional rulers, security agencies, and the Delta State Government to intervene promptly to prevent further escalation of the crisis. He maintained that every conflict, no matter how grave, can be resolved through dialogue, understanding, and mutual respect.
“We cannot afford to destroy ourselves with hatred and violence,” he warned. “The future belongs to us, the youths, and we must build it on a solid foundation of peace, love, tolerance, and peaceful coexistence.”
The NYCN Delta State Chapter extended heartfelt sympathies to all families affected by the incident, praying for strength and comfort for them in this difficult time. The council reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to peace-building initiatives and encouraged all stakeholders to work together to restore lasting peace and stability in Warri and across Delta State.
This renewed appeal for peace comes at a time when Warri is repositioning itself as a center of commerce, culture, and opportunity, making a peaceful atmosphere critical for progress and development.
