PRESIDENTIAL AMNESTY PROGRAMME FLAGS OFF PRE-DEPARTURE BRIEFING FOR 140 UK POSTGRADUATE SCHOLARS

Today marked another historic milestone for the Presidential Amnesty Programme (PAP) under the visionary leadership of its Administrator, Dr. Dennis Otuaro, as the Programme successfully organized a comprehensive pre-departure briefing and orientation session for over 140 beneficiaries awarded fully funded scholarships for postgraduate studies in top universities across the United Kingdom.

The event, which held at the Abuja Head Office of the PAP, was well attended by stakeholders, PAP officials, beneficiaries, and parents who could not hide their excitement. The pre-departure session was designed to give the scholars a robust understanding of what to expect abroad – including travel guidance, cultural adaptation, academic expectations, and personal conduct – ensuring that they represent both the Niger Delta and Nigeria with pride.

In his remarks, Dr. Otuaro reiterated the commitment of the PAP to human capital development as a critical strategy for sustainable peace and growth in the Niger Delta. He described the large-scale foreign scholarship deployment as part of the renewed vision to reposition the formal education component of the programme, aligning it with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR.

"This initiative is about more than just sending students abroad; it is about changing the narrative of the Niger Delta, empowering our youths with world-class education, and equipping them to return home as problem solvers and nation builders," he stated.

He further charged the beneficiaries to focus on their studies, stay disciplined, and become worthy ambassadors of the Niger Delta and Nigeria at large.

Parents and stakeholders present at the event hailed Dr. Otuaro’s leadership and commitment, describing the scholarship deployment as a “game changer” that would open doors of opportunities for Niger Delta youths and further consolidate the gains of the Presidential Amnesty Programme.

This batch represents one of the largest groups of scholars sponsored simultaneously by the PAP, reinforcing the Programme’s drive towards peacebuilding, empowerment, and sustainable development across the region.
