A heavy cloud of sorrow hovers over the Atigbi Family of Ofunama Community in Ovia South West Local Government Area of Edo State, as well as across the wider Egbema Kingdom and the Niger Delta region, following the passing of Late Federal Atigbi, a beloved son, brother, husband, father, and uncle.

The sad event of his demise occurred on 21st August 2025, at the age of 52 years, leaving behind grieving families, friends, and associates who describe him as a man of strong character, community spirit, and deep love for his people.

This morning, the body of Late Federal Atigbi departed Warri and is on its final journey to his ancestral hometown, Ofunama, where he will be laid to rest amidst tears, memories, and heartfelt tributes. His funeral is being witnessed not just as a family loss, but as a monumental moment for the entire Egbema Kingdom, whose sons and daughters have been thrown into deep mourning.

A Family Man Remembered

Late Federal Atigbi is survived by two wives, five children, brothers, sisters, and numerous relatives, who now carry the painful weight of his absence. His life was one marked by resilience and commitment to both family and community.

As preparations unfold, a social wake keep has been scheduled at the family compound in Ofunama by 7 p.m., where loved ones, friends, and well-wishers will gather to honor his memory. Music will be supplied by Taye Sofiya, creating an atmosphere of remembrance, even in the midst of grief.

A Regional Loss

The sorrow of his passing is not limited to Ofunama alone. From the creeks of the Niger Delta to the bustling towns of Edo and Delta States, messages of condolences have poured in, reflecting how widely his presence was felt. His death has been described as a “painful exit” for the people of Egbema Kingdom, who will remember him for his vibrancy, warmth, and the indelible mark he left on those around him.

A Final Farewell

As his remains arrive in Ofunama, the community prepares to bid him a final farewell today, Friday, 5th September 2025. It is a solemn reminder of the fleeting nature of life and the eternal legacy of love and relationships that outlive the human frame.

The Atigbi Family of Ofunama, together with the Tunfa family of Polobubou, Warri North LGA, Delta State, remain united in grief, yet comforted by the outpouring of solidarity and support from neighbors, friends, and associates across the Niger Delta.
