The heartbeat of the Arogbo-Ijaw Kingdom is set to echo with colour, music, and culture as His Imperial Majesty Pere Zacchaeus Doubra Egbunu, Esq (JP), OPUKUTU III, The Agadagba and Paramount Ruler of Arogbo-Ijaw Ibe, welcomes sons, daughters, and friends of the kingdom to the 27th Anniversary of Arogbo Ibe Day Celebration 2025 (Cultural Festival).

This year’s cultural festival promises to be more than just a celebration — it is a reaffirmation of Arogbo’s rich heritage, unity, and resilience as a people.

A Celebration Rooted in Culture and Unity

The programme of events, as unveiled by the planning committee, stretches from Monday 15th September to Sunday 5th October 2025, with both pre-programme activities and main festival events. From early morning cannon shots that remind the people of their cultural rhythms, to novelty football matches, environmental sanitation, swimming competitions, inter-denominational services, and traditional displays — the festival is packed with activities that cut across all ages.

The highlight days — beginning from Thursday 25th September to Sunday 28th September 2025 — will showcase the strength of Arogbo culture. From cultural contests, wrestling, masquerade parades, to the grand civic reception in honour of His Imperial Majesty, every moment is designed to celebrate the Arogbo identity with pride.

Royalty, Dignitaries and Honour

The event will be graced by traditional rulers, political leaders, technocrats, and cultural custodians, all coming together to honour the revered throne of the Agadagba. Special dignitaries include community leaders, federal and state representatives, religious leaders, and friends of Arogbo Ibe across the Niger Delta and Nigeria at large.

Most importantly, His Imperial Majesty Pere Zacchaeus Doubra Egbunu, OPUKUTU III, will lead the people in thanksgiving, reflection, and cultural revival. His reign has continued to symbolize peace, strength, and dignity for the Arogbo nation.

A Personal Note of Loyalty and Respect

As a son of the Niger Delta and a cultural ambassador in my own right, I, Prince O. D. Agbedeyi PhD, humbly celebrate with His Imperial Majesty and the entire Arogbo people on this historic occasion. The Arogbo Ibe Day is not just a cultural festival, but a heritage festival that preserves who we are and where we are going as a people.

With utmost humility, I also state that I will not mind a royal title from His Imperial Majesty, should he find me worthy in his wisdom and magnanimity. For me, such an honour would not just be personal, but a call to greater responsibility in service to the Niger Delta and humanity.

The inclusion of swimming competitions, children’s cultural events, music, and interfaith services shows that the Arogbo Ibe Day is not exclusive — it is a celebration for the entire community, young and old alike.

It is also worth noting that the planning committee under Barr. Iluemi Timbira Ernest (Secretary) and Hon. Jemi Someibojoh (Chairman) has worked tirelessly to ensure that every detail is in place for the success of the 27th anniversary.
