The 2024 audited financial report of the Delta State Government, recently published in national dailies, has been described as a bold testament to the transparency-driven governance style of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori. This assertion was made by the Director General of the Delta State Bureau for Communications and Orientation, Barrister Fred Latimore Oghenesivbe, during a live public affairs radio programme monitored in Asaba, the state capital.

Oghenesivbe praised the State Commissioner for Finance, Chief Fidelis Tilije, for his steadfast implementation of the watertight automated accounting system introduced by the current administration. According to the DG, this system has ensured fiscal discipline and reinforced the governor's promise of building a new Delta anchored on transparency, equity, and results-driven governance.

A Government Focused on Results

Highlighting Governor Oborevwori’s developmental strides, Oghenesivbe noted that the administration has delivered numerous infrastructure projects across urban and rural areas. These include:

• The ongoing 143km dualization of the Ughelli-Asaba highway
• Construction of three strategic mega flyovers
• Consistent release of billions of Naira for road infrastructure across the 25 LGAs
• Empowerment of 277,000 Deltans under the D-CARES social welfare programme

“These achievements are not mere political promises; they are physical realities that citizens can attest to,” he stated.

Oborevwori’s Scorecard Speaks Louder than Coalitions

Speaking on the wave of opposition and political coalitions ahead of the 2027 general elections, Barrister Oghenesivbe was confident that such coalitions pose no threat to the re-election of Governor Oborevwori or the presidency of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

“Governor Oborevwori’s achievements in just two years surpass what many expected. He’s not just working; he’s transforming Delta. The next two years will even outshine what we’ve already celebrated,” he declared.

He further noted that the governor has received multiple accolades, including:

• Best Governor of the Year
• Best in Infrastructure Development
• Best Governor in Good Governance

Inclusiveness and Equity in Development

When asked about the perceived marginalization of certain areas, particularly Udu Local Government Area, the DG was quick to refute such claims. He emphasized that the Oborevwori-led administration is deeply committed to equity and natural justice across the state’s three senatorial districts.

Citing recent remarks by Commissioner for Works (Rural and Public Infrastructure), Charles Aniagwu, the DG said projects in Udu LGA include the Aladja Floating Market, comprising 220 modern shops with lighting features for day and night trading.

“Governor Oborevwori does not tolerate policies or actions that go against fairness and inclusivity. His leadership is based on ensuring that every Deltan benefits from governance,” Oghenesivbe added.

2027 Victory Foreseen

On the possibility of political upsets in 2027, the Bureau Chief dismissed such notions, stating emphatically that Deltans are solidly behind Oborevwori and Tinubu.

“The 2024 audited report is clear proof of prudent management and accountable governance. Deltans are satisfied. Come 2027, no coalition can stop the people’s choice. President Tinubu and Governor Oborevwori will win effortlessly,” he assured.
