The high-profile delegation was warmly received by Prince Segun Omojuwa, Chief of Staff to Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa. The meeting was seen as a watershed moment — marking a renewed urgency for justice, infrastructure, and inclusivity in policy implementation across the oil belt.
"Our People Have Endured Too Much" — Comrade Tibe-ebi Speaks Out
Delivering a stirring address during the visit, Comrade Lawrence Steven Tibe-ebi, a frontline voice for marginalized communities, lamented the generational neglect suffered by oil-producing regions in Ondo State.
“For decades, our people have endured pollution, devastated farmlands, and shrinking livelihoods,” Comrade Steven declared.“Yet these are the very communities whose wealth fuels the state’s economy. It is our firm commitment to ensure the restoration of their dignity.”
He further emphasized that OSOPADEC, under the leadership of Prince Poroye and in alignment with Governor Aiyedatiwa’s OUR EASE Agenda, is prepared to initiate impactful, people-focused projects to uplift the living standards of these often-overlooked communities.
State Government Responds with Assurances of Action
In his response, Prince Segun Omojuwa, Chief of Staff to the Governor, commended the proactive posture of OSOPADEC and reaffirmed the administration’s unwavering resolve to support development efforts targeted at the oil-rich areas.
“The Governor appreciates your dedication and shares your passion,” Omojuwa noted.“Expect decisive action. These communities deserve better schools, good healthcare, clean water, and youth empowerment. Our administration will support OSOPADEC every step of the way.”
Omojuwa assured the Commission that Governor Aiyedatiwa is deeply aware of the environmental injustices and infrastructural deficit in the riverine and oil-bearing parts of the state — and is committed to redressing them with strategic investments and policy actions.
A New Chapter for Ondo’s Oil Belt
The visit concluded with mutual agreement on the need for synergy and urgency in addressing key developmental challenges. From road construction to water access, education, healthcare, and youth empowerment, both parties resolved to deliver on the expectations of the people in real time.
This engagement signals a bold shift — a transition from rhetoric to results, and from promises to performance. OSOPADEC is not only positioning itself as a vehicle for development but also as a credible voice of advocacy and hope for oil-host communities in Ondo State.
