ESE-ODO, ONDO STATE – Jubilation filled the air in Igbekebo and Agadagba Obon as the Federal Government’s landmark ₦1.2 billion Conditional Cash Transfer scheme officially launched in Ese-Odo Local Government Area, with over 903 residents receiving ₦75,000 each to support their households amid economic challenges.

The initiative, operating under the flagship “Renewed Hope” agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, was ceremoniously flagged off by the Executive Chairman of Ese-Odo LGA, High Chief Caleb Ebimobowei Molos (CEM), at the council’s political headquarters in Igbekebo. The simultaneous distribution in other communities like Agadagba Obon created scenes of celebration rarely seen in recent memory.

“This is not just cash; this is hope in action,” declared High Chief Molos. “President Tinubu has shown true leadership by cushioning the impact of fuel subsidy removal on the most vulnerable. These funds—₦75,000 per person over a period of three months—will make a real difference in many homes.”

Residents, each issued a personalized debit card, received their first tranche of the ₦25,000 monthly payments with fanfare. Community halls echoed with thanksgiving songs, claps, and even tears of relief, as citizens praised the government’s direct intervention in their lives.

The programme, initially flagged off in Akure South LGA on June 12 by the Executive Governor of Ondo State, Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, has now successfully spread across all 18 LGAs in Ondo State. The launch in Ese-Odo marks a crucial milestone in ensuring equitable distribution of federal palliatives across riverine and hinterland communities.

High Chief Molos used the opportunity to commend Governor Aiyedatiwa for his alignment with the national Renewed Hope framework:

“Governor Aiyedatiwa’s unwavering support for the Renewed Hope Agenda is a blessing to Ondo State. His seamless collaboration ensures that the President’s vision for grassroots empowerment becomes a living reality.”

The event was graced by key state and local officials, including Mrs. Yemi Pirinsola, Permanent Secretary and team lead from the Ondo State Government; Mr. Ope Adeloye, State Project Manager; Mr. Bamisile, and several local cash transfer facilitators who coordinated the smooth distribution of funds.

The atmosphere at the flag-off venue was nothing short of electric. Many beneficiaries, mostly women, elderly citizens, and youths, expressed heartfelt gratitude, describing the moment as a “turning point” for their families. With rising inflation and food insecurity, the arrival of such a lifeline has reawakened belief in government-backed solutions.

Impact Beyond Numbers

While statistics point to 903 direct beneficiaries in Ese-Odo, the indirect impact is even more profound—stimulating the local economy, empowering small businesses, and offering households the breathing space to plan ahead.

Local observers noted that this programme could redefine public perception of governance if sustained and transparently executed.
